KARACHI (PPI) - Administrative Judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts Karachi, Justice Maqbool Baqir of Sindh High Court Monday extended remanded of two accused facing charges of killing three policemen at Chakra Goth. Accused Atif and Abdul Hakeem were arrested after shootout in Korangi on August 19. According to prosecution, a police party led by DSP Syed Badar Ali Shah was proceeding to Chakra Goth after receiving information about precarious law and order situation due dispute between two groups when it was attacked by armed persons. Police said 30 to 40 armed persons opened fire on policemen travelling in private van, resulting in deaths of three policemen Wazir Ali, Ali Abbas and Mehrab besides injuring 28 policemen, including DSP Syed Badar Shah. Accused Shahid Burger was killed in retaliatory police firing while another accused Saleem was taken away by his accomplices in injured state. Police nominated Mansoor, Nadeem Akhtar, Shahid, Asif, Furqan, Saghir, Iqbal, Aqeel, Shakir, Shahid Miller, Junaid, Raees, Saleem, Abdul Hakeem, Iqbal, Saleem and and Atif accused in FIR, which also includes 15 to 16 unidentified accused. The Zaman Town Police booked them under murder, attempt to murder, police encounter, rioting and terrorism charges. On Monday, Investigation Officer produced the accused and requested for extension in their physical custody to complete investigation. Administrative Judge Justice Maqbool Baqar extended their remanded to police custody till September 6, 2011 with direction to the IO to submit charge sheet on next date.
