KARACHI - Two policemen, who allegedly involved in concealing the robbed amount recovered from the bandits, were released on Monday. On August 25, a robbery was committed in the limits of Jackson police station where three armed culprits snatched Rs4 million from the staff of a private transport company. The company was owned by Colonel (r) Naeem, who claimed that the looters escaped after the robbery. On his information, the police immediately arrested two out of three robbers and claimed to have recovered Rs0.5 million from their possession. Meanwhile, the police department had arrested Pak Colony SHO Tasaduq Waris and ASI Saeed on the charges of concealing the robbed money worth Rs1.2 million and initiated inquiry against them. Sources said the police department had saved both the officials by declaring them innocent in this case. They said the department had ordered to release them from custody. When contacted the investigation officer Ali Ahmed said the inquiry had confirmed that the recovered money was not more than Rs0.5 million and the said allegation against these two policemen was proved baseless. Therefore, the authority concerned has released both of them. Pace of Lyari uplift Package reviewed: Lyari Town Administrator Muhammad Raeesi has said that development projects worth millions of rupees have been completed under Lyari Package. This, he said, while presiding over a meeting to review pace of on-going development work being carried out under the package here on Monday. He said that Lyari package was announced by President Asif Zardari and the credit goes to him for development of the area. The meeting reviewed pace of ongoing projects and expressed satisfaction over it. He said that after completion of projects, the people of Layri will get civic facilities including water and sewerage like people of other localities. He directed the officers concerned to ensure use of standard material in ongoing work.
