LAHORE FIA investigation team headed by Zafar Ahmad Qureshi, Additional Director General (ADG) has unearthed more important evidences against Chaudhry Moonis Elahi in National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam, sources in FIA claimed on Monday. The team also disclosed two fake bank accounts used for the transfer of Rs. 320 millions in NICL scam, they added. They said that a meeting in this regard was held at FIA Punjab office on Monday chaired by Mr. Qureshi. All the team members including Deputy Director FIA, Basharat Shehzad, Deputy Director, Javed Shah, Assistant Directors, Khalid Anees and Muhammad Ahmad and Inspector Muhammad Sarwar were present on the occasion. It was revealed that the Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) of Khadim Rasool and Adil Manzoor, both owners of fake firms, were used for opening fake accounts in two branches of Allied Bank Limited. The said accounts were used for transfer of Rs. 320 millions from the account of Dubai Islamic Bank by Mohsin Habib Warraich, the principal accused as well as the main beneficiary in the case. Sources claimed that later the said amount was withdrawn by the manager of Moonis Elahis firm and right hand man of Moonis. The investigation team members were also collecting record of the income tax paid by Moonis Elah, his wife and his two companies At-Tahur and Agro Tractors. Deputy Director FIA Circle Multan Noor Khan submitted a statement regarding Adil Manzoor. Deputy Director Multan told the chief investogator in his report that he could not trace Adil Manzoor as he was not at home and his cell phone was also switched off. The FIA also succeeded to produce Khadim Rasool before the Allaqa magistrates court for recording his statement of under section 164 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPc). In his statement he denied regarding providing his CNIC neither opening any account in ABL nor withdrawing any amount from said fake account open on his name with the connivance of concerned bank officials. Fake accounts were opened in two branches of Allied Bank Limited (ABL) Lahore Airport Road and Multan Road branch. On the other hand Civil Lines police Lahore has also started investigation into the incident wherein AD security of FIA had passed on a telephonic message from his personal cell to bomb disposal squad for the presence of bomb in FIA building in the recent past on the day when Zafar Qureshi was scheduled to take charge of his duty on the instruction of Supreme court of Pakistan. Interestingly there no bomb was found the building was cleared after thorough search but even then AD Hammad got the building locked and Mr. Qureshi was not allowed to enter in the premises. An investigation officer of Civil Lines Police Station on Monday visited the FIA Punjab office and recorded the statement of Khawaja Hamadur Rehman Assistant Director (AD) FIA Security Wing and took into possession the mobile phone and SIM card used by AD FIA Khawaja Hamadur Rehman for forensic test. It is pertinent to mention here that despite the lapse of 19 days of Supreme Court Orders to include Section 505 of Pakistan penal Code (PC) in FIR earlier registered. The police have failed to do so.
