OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A 36-year-old man was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a hotel room here in Lower Mall area, police said on Monday. Police sources claimed that it was a suicide case as the deceased, said to be an animal trader, had been facing severe financial constraints and was unable to repay the debts. The police investigators said that the man, later identified as Muhammad Irfan, was hanging by a rope tied to the ceiling fan as they entered in the room in Darbar Hotel, situated in Lower Mall police vicinity. The hotel management contacted the police after a waiter witnessed the dead body. The resident of Gujraat arrived in Lahore on Sunday and took a room on rent. Apparently, it seemed that the man committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling fan, a police investigator said, adding, it was yet to be established what compelled the trader to commit suicide. The police have removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy and are investigating. In another incident, a 55-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances from the residence of an officer of a sensitive agency here in South Cantonment area on early Monday. The deceased, identified as Muhammad Hashmat, was working as house servant at the residence of the officer. On Monday morning, another house servant witnessed the dead body in the residential quarter and contacted the police. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old passerby who was rushed to a local hospital with severe bullet injuries the other day died there on Monday, according to the police. The deceased, identified as Zar Khan, was on his way to a nearby market in Bhatti Gate area when he fell victim to crossfire between the two rival groups. The men of one Osma group opened straight fire on their opponent Tipu Rentwala. Tipu survived luckily but the bullets hit the boy. The police have registered the case and are investigating. 2 robbers held: Mujahid Squad police claimed to have arrested two alleged robbers whereas a stolen car was also recovered from the accused on Monday. The accused identified as Waqas and Rafaqat were arrested from Nishtar Colony police area seconds after the police cordoned of the area and announced to surrender. Earlier, a Mohafiz police squad also seized a stolen car from an accused identified as Tayyab Chaudhary, who managed to flee in Civil Lines Police area on the same day. The SP Mujahid Squad has announced commendatory certificates for the police teams.
