HAFIZABAD - The Kissan Board of Pakistans Hafizabad chapter has denounced the black marketing of urea fertiliser and urged the authorities to ensure availability of urea at fixed rate of Rs. 1,385 per bag. KBP President Amanullah said that urea was being sold at Rs 2,000 a bag which is beyond the reach of common growers. As a result, he added, paddy production would be badly hampered. He further said due to more than 18-hour loadshedding in paddy-growing area, it is feared that paddy production would reduce. He demanded pro-growers policies for providing fair returns to the growers to increase paddy produce. HEAVY RAIN: Heavy rain in the city has worsened the sanitary condition. The rainwater inundated many areas which could not be drained out. On the other hand, stale vegetables in vegetable market is emitting foul odour and posing health hazard for the citizens. PO wanted in 50 cases held: An alleged proclaimed offender wanted in more than 50 murder, robbery and theft cases was arrested by the Sukheke police. Following a rip-off, the police conducted a raid on a house and arrested Faisal Ali alias Faisali of Thatha Manika, The police also claimed to have seized three stolen motorbikes, two pistols, one Kalashnikov, one 12-bore gun and a pump-action from his possession. The DPO while appreciating the police official has given him cash award of Rs 20,000. Separately, Zafar Iqbal, an employee of City Cables Hafizabad, was seriously wounded when he was shot at by another PO, Mukhtar Ali Marroo, of Qadirabad Hafizabad. The accused visited the office of City Cables and demanded extortion money and on his refusal he injured him with fire. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
