PA likely to meet on Friday

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE-The Punjab government has decided to convene Punjab Assembly session on September 9 (Friday), while the Opposition has already submitted its requisition for the purpose. Sources in Punjab Assembly have confirmed that law department has prepared a summary for the chief minister Punjab to be forwarded to the governor for issuance of Assemblys summoning orders on Friday. The government wants to get some amendment bills approved from the assembly in the upcoming session. It may be noted here that Opposition has already submitted its requisition to convene the session to discuss the kidnapping of Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain governor Punjab, Salmaan Taseer, and the overall law and order situation in the province. However, as per the Constitution, the government can call the Assembly session any time despite submission of requisition by the Opposition.
