OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court against the Punjab Government and the City District Government Lahore for allegedly failing to control dengue outbreak in the province. The petitioner, Noshab A Khan, has filed the petition impleading Secretary Health Punjab, District Coordination Officer, Lahore and City District Government Lahore as party. The petitioner submits that the dengue has assumed epidemic situation in Lahore and other parts of the province and government functionaries are unable to control its spread and are keeping the people in the dark about the hazards of dengue which has resulted in deaths to many citizens. He stated in his plea that the actual number of dengue patients in Lahore had reached thousands, which was much higher than what has been officially reported so far. He further contended that the Health Department and CDGL did not take adequate measures to arrest the situation. He submitted that ineffective insecticide have been used by the CDGL in the ongoing fumigation process. He contended that the respondents had failed to meet their constitutional obligation by not adopting effective measures to control the spread of dengue fever.
