‘Hafiz Saeed’ arrested


LAHORE – Saddar Police Division claimed on Wednesday to have rounded up a fraudster who made over Rs1.3 billion in sale and purchase of property while impersonating as Jamaat-ut-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed Ahmed.
According to a handout issued by SP (Operations) Capt (r) Liaqat Ali Malik, Rana Gulzaar had confessed to purchasing 41 kanal and seven marla land in Malikpur Cantonment in the JuD’s, telling the owners that he was affiliated with the banned outfit as a member. He also purchased several plots and other property using this ploy.
The police have also busted a gang operating with fake names and telephone numbers that used to lure the customers of laptops, I-Phones, I-Pods and other electronic goods into online shopping.
Two culprits Muhammad Naeem and Muhammad Naveed have confessed to committing several crimes in different areas of the City. The SP (Operations) also claimed that the armed bandits, who struck the house of Civil Engineer Mubeen in the Nawab Town area, have been arrested six hours after the robbery. Police have recovered five tola gold, one DVD, $200, four suits, three pistols and 90 bullets from their possession.
Two robbers associated with separate gangs were arrested in the Defence-A and Baghbanpura police areas. The robbers Iqbal alias Bala, Abid, Iqbal alias Shadu and Haq Nawaz alias Sohni were involved in more than 40 felonies. Further investigation is underway.
