ISLAMABAD – A parliamentary delegation representing minorities called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at Prime Minister’s Chamber in the Parliament House Wednesday evening and apprised him of issues facing the minorities.
The delegation thanked the government for constituting a committee headed by Federal Minister for Political Affairs, Senator Moula Bakhsh Chandio to look into the grievances of minorities.
The Prime Minister assured the delegation that no one would be allowed to misuse the blasphemy law.
The Prime Minister said that the government is committed to protect the life of every citizen and shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that minorities enjoy the same respect and dignity as other citizens of the state.
The Prime Minister told the delegation that the government has received the recommendations of the committee led by Moula Bakhsh Chandio and assured the delegation that recommendations would be given due consideration.
Those who called on the Prime Minister included Senator Moula Bakhsh Chandio Minister for Political Affairs, Akram Masih Gill MOS for National Harmony, Senator Mr. Heman Dass, Senator Amarjeet, Senator Hari Ram, Dr. Khatu Mal jeewan MNA, Ramesh Lal MNA, Lal Chand MNA, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Melani, MNA Dr. Darshan MNA Dr. Nelson Azeem MNA, Dr. Araish Kumar MNA and Munawar Lal MNA.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Ellahi called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at the Prime Minister’s House Wednesday afternoon.
During the meeting they discussed political situation prevailing in the country.
Ch Pervez Elahi briefed the Prime Minister about the performance of Utility Stores Corporation. The Prime Minister appreciated the support extended by the allies and hoped that they would continue to cooperative for the betterment and welfare of the people.
Earlier, Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani MNA, Syed Mumtaz Alam Gillani MNA and Mir Munawar Ali Talpur, MNA called on the Prime Minister and apprised him of the progress of development projects in their respective constituencies.
