PESHAWAR - Fata Students’ Federation (FSF) on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against the US drone attacks in tribal areas, and demanded of the government to stop Nato supplies.

The protestors led by FSF president Haroon Luqman were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the US government for killing innocent civilians, and barbarism on tribesmen. The protesting tribal students also chanted full-throated slogans against the US administration here at main Saddar road in front of Peshawar Press Club. The protestors were also expressed grievances over the poor law and order situation in FATA, and asked the government to take all necessary steps to ensure sustainable peace in the tribal belt.

Addressing the protesting students on the occasion, President FSF Mr Luqman said that government should give up military operations in tribal areas as he said that it was not a proper solution for durable peace in the region. He also lamented killings of hundred of innocent people by drone strikes in Wazirsitan agency.

Flanked by Gul Satar and Shafiq Ahmad, he said the political administration and FATA Secretariat have not provided any relief to affected families, he alleged. The Parliament has been passed a unanimous resolution against US drones, and intervention in the tribal areas but to no avail, he lamented.

The elected representatives from tribal belt, they added were silent on drone strikes and did not take interest in the solution of tribal masses, saying that Fata secretariat and political administration did not cooperate with tribal students.

He also appealed to the Chief of Army Staff and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to play their role to halt the US drone strikes.
