1965 War heroes’ gallantry recalled

CHAWINDA
The brave people of Sialkot and Chawinda while battling shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces of Pakistan had repulsed the biggest ever attack of cunning and invading Indian army with 600 tanks at Chawinda while laying down under these tanks after tying the bombs with their bodies, as these sons of soil of Sialkot sacrificed their lives to repulse this major Indian army attack during the Indo-Pak War on September 06, 1965.
The brave soldiers of Pakistan Army and people of Sialkot and Chawinda made Chawinda and surrounding areas the biggest graveyard of Indian tanks by saving the dear Motherland form the invading enemy, as the Chawinda was echoed with the loud sounds of “Allah-Hu-Akbar” on that time.
Chawinda base Haji Rehmatullah Butt, who had been serving as Hawaldar in Mujahid Force during the 1965 Indo-Pak War, recalled his memoires and told the newsmen that the cunning Indian army had also displayed the Pakistani flags on the attacking India tanks to deceive the Pak Army the local people, when the India invaded Pakistan during the night of September 06, 1965 near Chawinda-Sialkot. Soon, the local people and Pak Army soldiers came to know this reality. Then, Indian Army attacked Chawinda with 600 tanks. It was a major Indian attack, which was repulsed by Pakistan Army and the local brave people, who laid down under the attacking Indian tanks with the heavy bombs on their bodies. They blew up all the Indian tanks by sacrificing their lives and they made Chawinda as the grave yard of the destroyed Indian tanks there.
Haji Saeed Butt said that the entire Chawinda and surrounding villages were ruined during the aid war and the land was littered with the dead bodies of the Indian army men.
The monuments of 1965 War were established at Chawinda to pay homage to the armed forces of Pakistan and local people. The people of Chawinda wrote a golden history of bravery by sacrificing their lives for defending the motherland near Chawinda-Badiana during the September 1965 Indo-Pak War. The world’s biggest war of the tanks was fought there near Chawinda in 1965 , in which the local peaople laid down under the invading Indian tanks with bombs  and blew up themselves, besides, completely destroying the hundreds of the Indian army’s tanks, making Chawinda-Badiana a graveyard of these tanks. They sacrificed their lives to save the motherland during 1965 war.
The Chawinda based Ghazi of 1965 War Subedar (r) Muhammad Ibrahim stated this while recalling his war-memories during informal talks with the newsmen at Chawinda. He recalled that the whole of the world watched that the Pakistani nation was dropping even the last drops of their blood for defending Pakistan from India and knocked out the invading army, forcing it to go back after this biggest defeat.
Muhammad Rafi Bajwa said, “Defence Day of Pakistan reminds us of the indomitable courage and unmatched sacrifices of our gallant men who proved the world that the Defence of Pakistan was unassailable. September 6 stands out as a symbol of our enduring display of unity, Faith and Discipline as a nation.
Sialkot based senior Pak Army officials said, “The Defence Day of Pakistan reminds us of the indomitable courage and unmatched sacrifices of our gallant men who 48 years ago, proved the world that the Defence of Pakistan is unassailable. September 6 stands out as a symbol of our enduring display of unity, Faith and Discipline as a nation. On the day when the nefarious designs of the enemy bedeviled by her arrogance of numerical superiority were thwarted.
It is the day to pay homage to our Shuhada and Ghazis and to draw inspiration from their iconic acts of velour and supreme sacrifices. The day also proclaims that the proud sons of this valiant nation are even capable of defending the sacred frontiers of the Motherland.”
They added, “Compared to 1965, today’s Pakistan has emerged as more resilient and vibrant country with strong conventional and non-conventional power. The day reminds us of determination, selflessness and sacrifices of our Armed Forces, which they had rendered for the Defence of Pakistan.”
