Black quarter kills five quadrupeds in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT - At least five quadrupeds have died because of black quarter disease outbreak in Jabbarkhel and other adjacent villages, official sources said on Thursday.
Residents of Jabbarkhel and other localities said that they lost animals because of lacking veterinary health facilities at local level. "We are dependent upon livestock and it becomes a difficult task for us to make both ends meet if we lose our animals due to spread of diseases," they maintained.
They said that hundreds of cattle were suffering from the disease in the area. "Many animals die in few days after being hit by black quarter disease," they told.
When contacted Dr Mubarak, in-charge of mobile veterinary health unit, said that veterinary teams were sent to the villages for vaccination of animals soon after the livestock department officials received reports about outbreak of the disease.
