ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police on Thursday arrested one of the key suspect in 'foiled terrorism bid' and shifted him to undisclosed location for further interrogation.

According to official sources, the accused is one of the main operatives of Laskar e Taiba (LeT), a banned militant organisation and wanted to assassinate former dictator Pervez Musharraf. Sources within the intelligence agencies told The Nation on Thursday that law enforcement agencies have already arrested 11 suspects who wanted to bomb Pervez Musharraf's house in Chak Shahzad. Law enforcement agencies started raids following recovery of explosive-laden vehicle from the house of Hamad Adil, brother of Kamran Adil, Superintendent of Police (now serving in Punjab police).

A source privy to the development said the accused were planning to assassinate former president Pervez Musharraf who, according to accused, caused huge damage to LeT during his regime.

Meanwhile the IG Islamabad constituted a team of senior police officials tasking it to investigate whether former president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf is responsible for the murder of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi in the 2007 military operation in the mosque. Till then, the former president will not be arrested on allegations of murder.
