PESHAWAR - After successful dialogue with high-ups of Food Department and Deputy Commissioner, the Peshawar Nanbais Association on Thursday ended their strike and gave deadline of September 09, 2103 for new price list.
The meeting was attended by Food Advisor Qalandar Lodhi, Deputy Commissioner Zaheer-ul-Islam and President Peshawar Nanbais Association Iqbal Khan. The meeting decided that Nanbais Association will sell single Nan (Rotti) of 120 gram at six rupees while the price of double Nan will be twelve rupees.
However, the meeting decided that the existing prices would be effective till September 9 and after the due date new prices list would be issued to Nanbais Association.
Talking to the Nation, spokesman City District Administration Feroz Shah said that Deputy Commissioner Zaheer-ul-Islam has ordered the Nanbais Association to reopen their shops and ensure fixing of prices till Tuesday. Meanwhile, till Thursday afternoon Nanbais Association continued their strike, however later at evening the association reopened their thundoors.
Residents of Peshawar told The Nation that Nanbais strike could not affect them as they can prepare bread at their homes. They said that government should not heed the demands of Nanbais Association, as people are not ready to accept increase in the prices of Roti.
