Lakki police foil terrorism bid

LAKKI MARWAT- Police on Friday averted a sabotage bid by arresting a suspected militant in Darra Pezu town and seizing huge quantity of explosives from him.
An official said that police were put on high alert when DPO Ismail Khan had received information about entering of a militant to the district with an intention of carrying out terror act. He said that police increased patrolling in Darra Pezu town and tightened security of important installations.
"In the meantime a police party headed by SHO Javed Khan spotted a suspected militant at the bus stand and surrounded the place," he maintained, He said that the law enforcers overpowered the militant identified as Zahir Shah, a resident of Tank district and seized two bags from him containing 10kg explosives and 2000 empty bullets.
The official added that the explosives and empty shells were used in making homemade bombs and improvised eexplosive devices. "A case was registered against the arrested man under relevant section of law and investigation was started, said the official.
Meanwhile, a man was killed and his son sustained bullet injuries in a midnight attack by four armed persons in Kotka Sardar Gandi Khankhel near Naurang town.
Rehmatullah who was injured in the attack told police that on the night between Thursday and Friday he and other family members woke up hearing noise. "We saw four armed men standing in the compound and all of a sudden my father Hukamzad overpowered one of them," he stated.
He further told police the remaining three armed men opened fire on them and as a result he and his farther Hukamzad were seriously wounded. He added that his father Hukamzad died on way to the hospital. The complainant said that his family had no enmity with anyone and the armed men might enter the house with an intention of committing robbery. Police registered the case and began investigation.
