KARACHI - Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has directed all the educational institutions, where BSEK has setup examination centres for the conduction of SSC Annual Examinations, to use power generators in the centres during loadshedding.According to BSEK Controller Examination Rafia Mallah, all centres’ superintendents have been directed to check all candidates entering in the examination centres. He asked all the superintendents to play their due role in the eradication of cheating culture from the metropolis. On the other hand, the board administration has already requested to KESC not carryout loadshedding at the centres during the examinations hours. But on Thursday, on the beginning of the matric examinations, the dilemma of loadshedding has once again hit almost all examination centres set up in Karachi. Meanwhile, the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) annual examinations 2012 of pre-medical, pre-engineering, commerce (regular), medical technology, computer science and general groups would commence from May 7.BIEK chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai on Friday said that these examinations were being conducted in accordance with the decision of the Steering Committee of the Provincial Education Department. The BIEK Chairman said that the examinations of these groups would continue till May 28. He further pointed out that the examinations of inter-commerce (private) and arts (regular and private) groups will commence from June 1.The papers of the first phase would be conducted at 91 examination centres and those of the second phase at 70 centres. As many as 300,000 candidates would appear in both the phases of the examination.Moreover, in compliance with the directives of the Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh has instituted a “Surveillance Committee,” to keep a strict vigil on the availability of all required facilities at the designated examination centres for candidates appearing in secondary school examination. The committee headed by Additional Commissioner Abdul Wahab Soomro will also ensure that no violation of rules and regulations set by Karachi Board of Secondary Schools is allowed on these places.For the purpose, the committee itself and approved teams, comprising assistant commissioners and other senior officials from different districts of Karachi, have also been authorized to pay surprise visits of examination centres.
