MARDAN - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amn Jirga, Chairman Syed Kamal Shah Friday urged the government to take action against the persons who allegedly killed the wife of a poor man, seriously injured his daughter and kidnapped his other 12-year-old daughter in the limits of Sher Ghar Police Station a few months ago.

“The government and non-government organisations should also provide protection and legal and financial aid to the family of this poor man.” He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Mardan Press Club. Shajawal Baba, husband of the deceased, Arshad Manan, General Secretary of Amn Jirga and other elders of the area were also present on this occasion.

Syed Kamal said that on December 24, 2011 Fawad, Jabar and Naveed, who were ‘professional criminals’ and were supported by local Khans entered the house of Shajawal Baba and opened fire and killed his wife Dalfaroz Bibi and seriously injured his 10-year-old daughter Asiya Bibi and kidnapped his other daughter named Naseem Akhtar. He said police registered a case under section 302, 324 and 449 and did not register a case of kidnapping. He added that at that time SHO Riaz Khan ‘knowingly’ did not register the case of kidnapping against the accused. He added the local elders started negotiations to make a compromise between the accused and Shajawal Baba. He said after three months the accused allegedly killed his abducted daughter. He further said that police arrested the two accused while Fawad was wandering at large in the area. He said Fawad was threatening the poor man and his family.

He said the police also pressurised the poor man to make a compromise with the accused. He said due to the negative role of local jirgas, police and society, this poor family faced such conditions. He said the victim was a poor man and Amn Jirga was supporting him in the current time. He said the accused were influential and local Khans were supporting them. He appealed to the government and NGOs to support this poor family.
