KARACHI – Three PPP workers and a Peoples Student Federation activist were targeted killed, while sectarian killing claimed life of a seminary teacher on Friday.Four armed men reached on two motorbikes at a shop at Urdu Chowk, Mominabad in Orangi Town and opened indiscriminate firing. Resultantly four PPP activists namely Farhan alias Guddo, Nafees Siddiqui alias Munno Bihari, Umer Hayat and Rana Faraz received bullet injuries.Police shifted Farhan and Faraz to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), while the other two were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. During treatment Farhan, Nafees and Umer succumbed to their injuries.The triple murder of PPP activist caused tension in several areas of Orangi Town including sectors 10, 14, 15, Bismillah Colony, Faqeer Colony, and Urdu Chowk and its surrounding area. Unidentified armed men opened aerial firing forcing closure of all shops and markets.DSP Tariq Malik said that victims were sitting in the shop as usual after Jumma prayers when they were targeted. He said soon after, heavy contingents of police reached affected areas and police was deployed at sensitive locations.Farhan was general secretary of PPP local wing, while others were also active members of the party. They all were residents of Sector 10, Urdu Chowk.Scores of PPP workers reached Shaheen Complex along with the body of Farhan Guddu and tried to go inside Sindh Chief Minister House. Police had blocked the road with the help of containers. When protestors tried to force their entry into the red zone, the police baton charged and fired tear gas shells on them, injuring six PPP workers. Then protesters moved to Fawara Chowk where Sindh CM reached and gave them assurance of arresting the culprits. At this, the protesters dispersed; however, no case was registered till filing the report. In an act of sectarian killing a seminary teacher was shot dead in Surjani Town. The incident took place at sector L-1 near Maymar Abad Mosque, where 55-year-old Maulana Naeem Sheikh, son of Shahab Uddin was killed by unidentified armed men on motorcycles who sprayed bullets on his car bearing registration No L-7515. He received five bullets and died on the spot.The body was shifted to ASH for legal formalities. Police official said victim was resident of New Karachi, Sector 5-C and he belonged to Deo Band sect and was a teacher of Jalilia Madarsa as well as a travel agent. They said victim was also an active member of Tableeghi Jamaat and believed it being a case of sectarian killing. In a third incident an activist of Peoples Student Federation was shot dead in front of his house in Mobina Town Police precincts. The victim 29-year-old Saeed Hussain Khan, son of Abdul Aziz Khan, was a resident of Scout Colony., while he was sitting in front of his home along with his friend when unidentified armed men injured hum fatally and he died at a nearby private hospital.Soon after getting the news of Saeed Hussain’s murder scores of PSF workers reached the hospital. PSF Karachi President Faisal Sheikh said the victim was an active member of PSF in Karachi University and doing masters in sociology.
