KARACHI  - The Sindh High Court has directed Director General Sindh Rangers to recover and produce missing man allegedly picked by the paramilitary troops during raids in different parts of the city.
A division bench headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar directed home secretary, provincial police chief, director general of Rangers and other police officials to file comments within two weeks. The petitioner, Khawaz Alam, submitted that rangers personnel barged into his house on Feb 11 and took away his son without any plausible reason. He alleged in the petition that rangers personnel had asked him to arrange Rs0.5 million for release of his son. He prayed to court to direct respondents to produce detainee in the court.
Moreover, the SHC has allowed more time to federal law officer to furnish comments in response to a petition seeking audit of the accounts of NGOs operating in the province.
Petitioner Rana Faiz submitted that there is no structure present by which govt can supervise the functions, budgets and expenditures of 45,000 NGOs operating across the country.
