TOBA TEK SINGH - Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the last PPP-led government did not take revenge on its political opponents and set a record in Pakistan’s history, adding the energy crisis was inherited by the previous government.
Addressing a press conference at the house of Pir Ali Baba, his nephew and PPP ticket-holder for NA 94, Gilani stated that electricity crisis was inherited to the PPP government by the previous government but due to the projects started by his government to produce electricity would end the crisis forever within the next three years.
He said in 1997, Nawaz Sharif’s government could not create even one megawatt of energy. He added that the PML-Q and the PPP would contest the 2013 general elections as allies and win majority of the seats all over the country. He also said that the PPP was the only political party of the country whose leaders Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto sacrificed their lives for the people and democracy.
Pir Faraz Shah Qadri, ex-MPA Rao Iqbal Ahmad Khan, Pir Asad Abbas Shah and Rana Khalid Mahmood were also present. Later, the former PM visited Kamalia and met with the PPP workers at the residence of Saadat Husnain Kharal, PPP ticket-holder for PP-88.
PAPERS: Nomination papers of Pir Ali Raza, PML-N ticket-holder for PP-89, and her covering candidate Ms Saima Raza were not approved on Saturday during scrutiny as his opponents had submitted objections against him. The returning officer will declare the decision in this regard on Sunday (today).
