SARGODHA - Returning Officer Muhammad Azam Rana on Saturday accepted nomination papers of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif from NA-68.
Advocates Bukhtiar Ali Sherazi and Muhammad Shahbaz Sherazi had filed objections to the RO that Nawaz Shairf had been involved in the Asghar Khan case.
They said he had received money from secret agencies and was not eligible to contest elections. The RO rejected the objections and cleared nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif.
Meanwhile, former State Minister Tasneem Ahmad Qureshi of the PPPP was found defaulter of Rs 4,000 of Islamabad Electric Supply Company and the RO directed him to clear the dues.
Nomination papers of former State Minister Ghias Ahmad Mela of the PML-Q and Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha of the PML-N were cleared after security from NA-65.
The RO also accepted nomination papers of former Minister Ch Anwar Ali Cheema of the PML-Q, Shams Naveed Cheema of the JI, Dr Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti of the PML-N and Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon from NA-67.
