ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), currently engaged in seat-to-seat adjustment with some big and small political parties, has once again resumed talks with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl  (JUI-F) but slow development on deal is hinting unsatisfactory signs from both sides.
Both parties, having demands for maximum ‘favour’ from each other, are on verge of backtracking in coming days, the PML-N sources told TheNation.
The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) restarting talks with the JUI-F, after a short interval, has decided to gain maximum favour in the Khyber Pakhtun Khwa(KPK) while adopting silence on the seats adjustment in Punjab with the JUI-F.
The ‘silence’ of Nawaz Sharif-led party on the seats of Punjab especially Lahore could sabotage the deal between two parties, background interviews and discussions with the members of both the parties left this impression.
It would not be out of place to mention here that the talks between two parties had once suspended on seat-to-seat adjustment when the JUI-F leadership expressed dissatisfaction from other side on deal.
When contacted, PML-N Senior Leader Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, who was given task from his party leadership to appease JUI-F on seat-to-seat adjustment, said talks between two parties are underway. “We will exchange list of demands today and most probably the matter will be resolved amicably,” he said, adding that the PML-N is not in a planning to forge alliance as they only interested in arrangement of seats adjustment in some of the regions of KPK.
To a question, Jhagra said they would try to facilitate each other keeping in view ground realities.
On the other hand, the JUI-F leader Abdul Ghafor Haideri repeating his previous stance said that the PML-N is only watching their interest as this could create impasse between parties. “We are asking some favour in Punjab but the PML-N is turning deaf ear on it,” Haideri said, adding that matter could only move forward when both the partners show some flexibility.
It is relevant to mention here that both parties had to exchange their list of demands quite earlier but the matter has been postponed for one more day. The PML-N at a same time negotiating with two religio-political parties Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Jamaat Islami (JI), which have remained erstwhile partners of Muttahia Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
The PML-N has reportedly started talks with both the religio-political parties with the aim to create pressure on Jamaat Islami (JI) as deal with JUI-F may not succeed due to their high demands.
Political analysts still believed that the matter would be resolved but the PML-N will not give big favour to the JUI-F in Punjab (Lahore) for seats adjustment. The mistrust erupted between opposition parties (JUI-F and PML-N) on seats adjustment after the deadlock situation on the matter of Justice (Retd) Shakir Ullah Jan as nominee for caretaker PM, as Maulana Fazlur Rahman remained adamant to budge from his ‘principled’ stance in support of this name.
