18 victims of road mishap laid to rest in Sargodha

18 deceased persons of Chakwal Road mishap including four grooms and a bride were laid to rest in their ancestral village Bagar Khoh here on Sunday amid tears and sobs.
Despite rain, local elected representatives and a large number of people from all walks of life attended the collective funeral for all 18 deceased. On the occasion, head of the bereaved family Mohammad Hayat told that 13 youths of their family were married some 10 days ago and they along with other family members were going to pay respect at the shrine of Pir Da Khara in a mini truck when the accident occurred. He further said that due to brakes failure, the mini truck plunged into a ravine, killing 18 persons including 16 of the same family.
It is to be noted that 67 persons from village Chota of Sahiwal, district Sargodha, on board a mini-truck, were on the way to Pir Khara Darbar from Kallar Kahar. On a sharp steep turn, the driver lost control of the truck and it fell into a 150-foot deep ditch, killing 17 persons. The driver of the truck was also injured in the mishap.
According to the Chakwal DCO, majority of the victims of the traffic accident were women and children. More than 40 injured are under treatment in the hospital.
