HAFIZABAD -: District Officer (Coordination) Allah Ditta Warraich has stressed the need for the use of Iodised salt for prevention from different diseases.

He was addressing a meeting held in connection with the Universal Salt Iodisation Programme which was attended among others by Programme Field Officer Saima Fawad, Focal Person Muhammad Ashraf, DO Social Welfare Rana Mehboob Ahmad, EDO (Education) Muhammad Ashraf Harl, EDO (Health) Dr Naseer Ahmad Kahlon, representatives of Salt Processors Associations and NGOs. The DO (Cord) said that a vigorous campaign should be launched to create awareness among the general public regarding benefit of the use of iodised salt. He also advised the salt processors to ensure iodine mixing while grinding salt. On the occasion, the EDO (Health) said that deficiency of iodine among children particularly could create multiple diseases which can be prevented through the use of iodised salt.

DROWN: A young man of Chak Chattha was drowned while swimming in Rakh Branch Canal near Chak Chattha.

According to Rescue-1122 source, 20-year-old Zubair Ahmad S/o Ahsan Ullah Hanjra of Chak Chattha alongwith his friends went to the canal for swimming Sunday morning when he was caught by the whirlpool and was drowned.

The Rescue divers are making frantic efforts to locate the dead body but till the filing of the report the body has not yet been recovered.
