The passengers of Lahore-bound express train, coming from Karachi, staged a protest here on Sunday against the snail’s pace journey of the train as it reached the station nine hours late against the schedule time.

They chanted slogans against the railways authorities and demanded replacement of worn out engine which delayed the train. However the railways officials called in the City Police. The policemen forced the passengers to end protest and board the train which was departed for Lahore after half an hour stay.

However, when the train reached near Seowal railway station its engine failed and passengers again staged protest on track and atop compartments of the train. The protest was continued till filing of this report.

TRAINING WORKSHOP ENDS: The two-day training workshop organised by Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) concluded here on Sunday.

As per details, on second and concluding day, Awami Workers Party central secretary general Farooq Tariq delivered lecture on extremism harms to society and religion. Others who also spoke on the topic of “human rights education and tolerance” included HRCP regional coordinator Oaun Muhammad, district coordinator Ijaz Iqbal, Rao Akram Khurram, Hafiz Buzdar and several other intellectuals. A documentary was also shown to the participants on the topic of harmony.
