PAKPATTAN - More than 50 percent work on the Pakpattan Hydropower project has been completed and the project will be completed till December this year, said Irrigation Department Officer Rao Zakria Farooq.

Talking to The Nation, he said that that Pakpattan Hydropower Project was being built on Pakpattan Canal.

The PHPP has been awarded to Chinese Contractors M/s SINOTEC-SHPE-SKAF (JV). The project to cost Rs1047 million will be completed in about two and half years. The teams comprising experts have already started survey and geotechnical analysis of the site and work on the project is in full swing. The officer said that about 50 percent work on the project had been completed so far, adding that keeping in view the pace of work the project was likely to be completed by December this year.

Rao Zakria Farooq pointed out that the project was consisted of mobilization, detailed design, model study, construction/procurement of plant and equipment, transportation, site installation, testing and commissioning. He said that the project would produce 2.82 MW of electricity upon completion.
