KARACHI - Rangers on Monday claimed to have killed a person who had financed the target killers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Lyari gang war along with his two comrades. Rangers conducted an intelligence-based targeted raid in Khayaban-e-Rahat of Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

During the raid, an encounter took place in which Saleem alias Dollar, believed to be a member of Lyari gang war, was killed along with his two companions.

Rangers’ officials said that during the targeted raid at the hide-out of Saleem alias Dollar, it faced massive retaliation. After an exchange of fire, Saleem alias Dollar was killed along with his two comrades and one Rangers’ personnel was also wounded during the exchange of fire, who is under treatment at the Rangers’ hospital.

Rangers said two comrades of Saleem were identified as Nawaz alias Dada and Zubair alias Muhajir while their bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsies. The spokesperson claimed that Saleem alias Dollar and his companions were belonged to Lyari gang war. Saleem Dollar had links with notorious target killer of MQM namely Saeed Barham and Lyari gangster Rauf Nagori.

Saleem Dollar also used to finance them to carry out the criminal activities in the city as well as he was also running and patronising a team of target killers which often used as hired assassins and carried out numerous high profile killings in the city, he claimed.

“The encounter occurred when Saleem and his team of target killers were busy plotting to carry out an attack at an officer of the law enforcement agency.” Rangers also claimed to have recovered huge cache of weapons including 19 submachine guns (SMGs), two light machine guns (LMGs), three MP-5, three Awan grenades and a large quantity of mixed ammunition.

Separately, two workers of the Sunni Tehreek were arrested during a raid in North Karachi locality of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri. The arrested suspects were identified as Imran and Kashif. Police said the arrested suspects were involved in various cases of extortion and targeted killings. Cases against them were registered.

Meanwhile, Orangi Town police have arrested a fake soldier of Rangers from Ghaziabad area of Orangi Town, Pakistan Bazaar. Police said the accused exposed himself as a soldier of Rangers. The uniform of Rangers was also recovered from his possession. SHO Nasir Mehmood said the accused namely Faisal Akhtar was involved in various cases of street crimes. He used to loot the people by exposing himself as a soldier of the Rangers and was arrested on the complaints of citizens.

THREE NINE-ZERO SUSPECTS

SENT ON ADDITIONAL REMAND

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi has sent three suspects on a physical remand till April 9 which were arrested from Nine-Zero. The suspects namely Ubaid K-2, Nadir Shah and Abdul Qadir Hangura were brought in the court amid tight security.

Police requested the court for additional remand of the suspects for further interrogation on which the court accepted the request and increased the remand. The suspects were involved in the murder of sub-inspector Rehan and sub-inspector Nisar in soldier bazaar.
