LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Monday gave last chance to federal government for filing of reply in a contempt petition against the defence secretary for not implementing court order regarding post retirement benefits equal to commissioned officers of the army.
Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza remarked that defence secretary would be summoned if the reply was not filed till April 16.
Ali Ahmad, Subedar, had filed the petition seeking post retirement benefits. He said senior army officers were given residential plots but they were ignored. He prayed the court to direct the authorities concerned to give junior army officers benefits equivalent to the commissioned officers.
verdict reserved in fake shumaila rana degree case
A Sessions court on Monday reserved verdict on an application for acquittal in fake degree case filed by PML-N’s Shumaila Rana.
Shumaila had moved an application in a case, moved by Regional Office of the Election Commission, challenging the eligibility of Shumaila Rana. The commission had submitted that she had violated representation of people Act 1976 along with section 199 and 200 of PPC.
“Ms Rana is not worthy to be member of the provincial legislative assembly,” the commission stated and requested the court to punish her in accordance with the law, said an ECP spokesperson.
