ISLAMABAD - Several persons were injured as a makeshift roof covering a nullah adjacent to a church in France Colony, sector F-7, of the federal capital caved in due to extra load on Monday.

More than 50 women and children sustained injuries with 3-4 sustaining serious injuries. The incident took place in the morning when a large number of people from Christian community were preparing for burial rituals of a woman. The slab could not bear the load of the gathering and caved in.

The slab was illegally placed on the nullah so as to create extra space for the church. The injured were immediately shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for medicinal treatment.

Meanwhile, unknown persons killed one Khizar Hayat and threw his dead body in a jungle near National Institute of Health (NIH) in the jurisdiction of Banigala police station.

Khizar (31) son of Makhan Khan was resident of Murree. The identity of the killers and cause of crime were still to be ascertained. The police shifted the bullet-riddled body to the PIMS and further investigation is underway.
