KARACHI - An office of the cable operator was partially damaged when unidentified men attacked it with a bomb at Labour Square in Quaidabad police precincts.
The blast took place on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Following the explosion, extra contingent of police reached the site and cordoned off the area, however, the bomb disposal squad experts said the bomb was concealed in an oil canister and weighed around half kilogramme.
The blast did not harm anyone because the incident occurred after the closure of the office. The experts further said a remote control device was attached with the bomb.
The owner of the office, Tariq Chishti said no one had demanded extortion from him. SHO Amanullah Marwat said, “The members of the militant outfit might have been behind the incident. They might want to close the cable services in the area.”
Similarly, unidentified armed men threw a cracker bomb outside the residence of an owner of a private chocolate factory at Block-C, North Nazimabad. SHO Nawaz Gondal said no one was hurt in the blast. The incident might have been occurred over refusal to pay the extortion money. A case has been registered against unidentified persons and further investigation was underway.
