RAWALPINDI - A large number of patients and attendants staged a demonstration on Wednesday against the management of District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for the delay in issuance of medical test reports.
The enraged protesters, including women, chanted slogans against mismanagement and called upon the Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) principal, chief executive (CE) of Allied Hospitals and Punjab Health secretary to take stern action against the hospital administration.
Shamsa Khatoon, the mother of patient Noreen Bibi, said that she came from Dhoke Ratta to get examined her daughter suffering from cough and temperature.
She said that the doctor took her blood samples and sent them to laboratory for medical tests. "Now, two hours have been passed but reports are not being issued to me. Normally, it takes 30 minutes," she complained.
Similar complaints were made by other protesters. 
On the other hand, a laboratory assistant said on the condition of anonymity that the computer and printer of the lab was out of order and that was why the reports were not being issued to the patients on time.
 The District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital medical superintendent and assistant medical superintendent could not be reached for comments.

 The ministry of national health services, regulations and coordination is celebrating the independence month under the theme "A Healthy Pakistan is a Strong Pakistan" on the directions of State Minister Saira Afzal Tarar.
All officers of the ministry will wear the national flag badges throughout the month.
All organisations under the ministry have chalked out special programmes and activities to mark the occasion.
A series of seminars on reforming public health education in Pakistan will also held throughout the month.
