Four new polio cases put Pakistan total at 108

ISLAMABAD-Officials today said four more polio cases have emerged in Pakistan, putting the total number of reported cases in the country this year to 108.
National Health Organization said that of the four new cases, one was from Punjab, one from Karachi, one from Peshawar while the other two were from North Waziristan tribal agency.
These new cases are children who have never been immunized before, and all belong to different areas.
The first case was detected in Kalar Kahar, where a three year old girl identified as Noor-ul-Hoda was found effected.
Five and half month old Mohammad Umair, residence of North Karachi, was the second case detected on Thursday.
Another 10 month old minor girl Umaiya from Ring Road area of Peshawar was also found affected by the deadly virus.
Another 1.5 year old boy identified as Panra Gul from North Waziristan was detected as the forth polio case on same day.
In May this year, the WHO imposed strict travel restrictions on Pakistan to prevent the possible spread of the polio virus to other countries.
Pakistan currently stands at the top in the last three polio endemic countries in the world, which include Nigeria and Afghanistan.
The WHO says the virus strain of polio found in Pakistan has affected as many as five countries over the past two years, becoming a serious threat to other countries.
