ISLAMABAD-Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment on the petition filed against the new constitution of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Justice Athar Minnullah has remarked “the sentiments of the entire nation are attached with cricket, therefore, the counsel for the petitioner should not misguide the court." A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minullah took up for hearing the petition filed against the new constitution of PBC today.

Muhammad Faiz Ahmad Cheema, counsel for the petitioner Maj (Retd) Ahmad Nadeem Saddal appeared in the court while Additional Attorney General (AAG) Tariq Mehmood Khokhar represented federation.

The counsel for the petitioner told the court during preliminary hearing that clause 10 of newly amended constitution of PCB had been challenged in the court. Najam Sethi, former chairman PCB had also been made respondent. Therefore the court should issue orders for restraining PCB former chairman Najam Sethi from performing function. Stay order may please be issued in this connection, he pleaded.

The counsel for federation raised the objection that counsel for the petitioner is misguiding the court. Former chairman PCB Najam Sethi has been removed from his office. PCB new constitution has been framed as per orders of Supreme Court (SC) under which election for the office of chairman PCB will be held.

The counsel for federation told the court that SC has issued detailed judgment in respect of former chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf case. He presented copy of SC decision in the court.

Justice Athar Minnullah warned counsel for the petitioner that SC detailed judgment has come and its copies have been presented by federation. On the other hand copy of SC decision has not been presented by the petitioner nor any mention has been made by him about SC decision in his petition. The court is being misguided.

The court, while reserving judgment on the petition , filed against the new constitution of PCB adjourned the hearing of the case indefinitely.
