The Independence Day rallies were taken out in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur, Chawinda, Badiana and surrounding areas in which thousands of people including students and teachers participated.

The participants renewed their pledge to sacrifice even the last drops of their blood to defend the Mother land. MPAs Manshaullah Butt, Muhammad Ikram, Sialkot DCO Nadeem Sarwar and Pakistan Movements’ worker Khawaja Abdul Salam led the rally taken out from Muslim League House Paris Road Sialkot. It ended at congested Allama Iqbal Chowk after passing through all the main inter-city roads.

The main national flag-hoisting ceremony was held at historical Govt Murray College Sialkot, the alma mater of the Poet of East Allama Iqbal. The speakers addressing the seminar highlighted various aspect of Pakistan Movement, besides, paying rich tributes to the pioneers of freedom.

In Daska, the hundreds of the people including students, teachers, traders, journalists and civil society representatives participated in Pakistan Rally taken out by Daska TMA. Lawmakers Shabeena Majid, Asif Bajwa, Mohsin Ashraf, Assistant Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmed and TMO Malik Tariq Zia led the rally.

Meanwhile, the people showed keen interest and enthusiasm for celebrating the Independence Day with traditional zeal and fervour. The TMAs have decorated various roads, streets, houses, government buildings and bazaars have been decorated with the thousands of the small and big sized national flags and colourful bounties in Sialkot City, Sialkot Cantt, Daska, Bhopalwala, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur, Badiana, Chawinda and surrounding areas.

The government machinery, students and teachers of all the private and government institutions, local politicians and  representatives of NGOs and CSOs were busy holding ceremonies including hoisting of the national flags and cutting the cakes of Pakistan’s birth day.

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Sialkot Fort. During the month-long Independence Day celebrations, the seminars, symposiums, walks, rallies, speech and national songs were being organised across the Sialkot District to mark the importance of the Day. Colourful cultural shows and sports would also be organised.

National flags could be seen hoisted on the cars, motorcycles, trucks, etc also fluttering atop the government and private buildings, houses, markets and shops in Sialkot City, Sialkot Cantt, Daska, Sambrial, Bhopalwala, Uggoki,  Pasrur, Badiana , Chawinda and surrounding areas.

In Sambrial, some shopkeepers said that their business was gaining momentum as the demand for buntings and stickers’ bearing the pictures of flags and national heroes goes up in the markets. The children have decorated their cycles and the elders their motorbike and cars with national flags and stickers. People have started preparing for the ID celebrations in their own style. The children can be seen buying buntings, stickers and badges from their pocket money…#

In Mandi Bahauddin, Holding of various events as part of Pakistan Independence Day celebrations continued. The Volley Ball Shooting tournament was held at District Sports Stadium. DCO Muzzafar Khan Sial was chief guest on the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the DCO highlighted importance of celebrating Independence Day. He said, “Pakistan is because of the grace of God and the efforts of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. With his untiring efforts, indomitable will and dauntless courage, he united the Indian Muslims and carved out a homeland for them, despite stiff opposition from the Hindu Congress and the British Government.

He said that our forefathers with great struggle and sacrifices achieved separate homeland. He paid tributes to them for the great achievement. Later, he distributed prizes among the winners.

In Khanewal, the Sports Festival will be organised to mark the independence of Pakistan, said District Table Tennis Association office bearer of Haji Amber Bashir.

He said that teams of table tennis from Mian Channu, Khanewal, Jahanian and Kabirwala would participate in the tournament. There would be single, double and team events for boys and girls, he added. The tournament be started from 7th in the officers club.
