ISLAMABAD - The federal government yesterday issued notification to promote 13 officers of grade 21 to next grade.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had chaired the meeting of High Powered Promotion Board on last Monday and approved the promotion of 13 officers from grade 21 to grade 22.

The promoted officers include National Highways Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Additional Secretary In-charge Commerce Azmat Ali Ranjha, Additional Secretary In-charge of Information and Technology Rizwan Bashir, Human Resource of Federal Bureau of Revenue Director General Dr Muhammad Ali Irshad, FIA Director General Amlish Khan, Frontier Constabulary Commandant Liaquat Ali Khan, Additional Secretary of Water and Power Younis Dhaga, Imran Iqbal from Audit and Accounts group, Tehmina Janjua of Foreign Service, Additional Secretary In-charge Communication Yasmin Masood, Chief Commissioner LTV Safdar Hussain, Additional Secretary In-charge of Board of Investment Azhar Ali Chaudhry  and Additional Secretary In-charge Ahmad Nawaz Saukhera.

According to the notification issued by Secretary to PM Fawad Hassan Fawad, all promoted officers asked to continue on same positions. After the promotion to grade 22, the officers who were looking after their divisions, ministries as Additional Secretary In-charge previously automatically will continue same position as full-fledged secretary due to the services rules. The federal government can appoint any officer of grade 21 as Additional Secretary In-charge of any division with the approval of PM.

The notification further says that the post of Inspector General of Frontier Constabulary has been upgraded and ordered the recently promoted officer of Police Service Pakistan Liaquat Ali Khan to continue on the post.
