PESHAWAR - Preparations for PTI’s Ehtesab rally have been finalised as organisers readied a special container for party chairman Imran Khan who will kickstart the massive campaign and street movement against corruption from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today (Sunday).

Talking to The Nation, Adviser to Chief Minister on Law and Parliamentary Affairs Arif Yousaf said that he will lead his convoy of 100 vehicles from Peshawar Qayyum Stadium which will join the main procession at Ring Road as other MPAs from Peshawar will also lead their party workers from their own constituencies.

A total of about 1,000 vehicles are expected to join the rally from Peshawar and Nowshera, however the number of vehicles may be variant due to widespread enthusiasm among party workers from other districts.

Naib Nazim Qasim Ali Shah who is in-charge of the rally arrangements said that party chairman will stay in Peshawar on Saturday night and will launch his movement from Peshawar on Sunday.

He said that the main procession will start from Qayyum Stadium while party chairman will join the rally from GT Road Peshawar where all the participants will join the single procession.

Special banners have been displayed at various points in the city and main squares to mobilise the people for today’s Ehtisab rally.

Special Peshawari Chappal for Imran Khan has been prepared while the container has been hired having aircondition and bathroom facilities.

The PTI chairman will briefly address party workers near Pir Zakori Sharif flyover in Chagalpura and will leave Peshawar Sunday afternoon. The convoy will also stay at Pabbi, Jhangira and Akora Khattak where Imran Khan will briefly address the participants.

Tight security arrangements have been made for Imran Khan’s convoy and police will escort Khan’s vehicle.

Special party anthems and songs have been recorded for workers enthusiasm and DJ Butt has been invited to the occasion.

Participants from other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhaw will also join the rally at Mardan and Swabi as large numbers of people are expected to reach from Swat and Buner, where party was gaining ground recently.

However, women participation from Peshawar will be dim due to repeated incident of stampede, disorder and mismanagement in PTI rallies. On the other hand, to counter PTI’s strength at its homeground, PML-N is all set to stage its show of power in the provincial metropolis today (Sunday), where from PTI is going to launch its ‘Accountability Movement’.

The Nawaz League will hold its public gathering at Dalazak Chowk on Ring Road. Its formal proceedings will begin at 3pm. Adviser to Prime Minister Ameer Muqam and provincial officebearers of the party will be the main speakers. The PML-N, which has been in power at the Centre has challenged PTI for the first time on its home-pitch.

The proceedings of the PTI’s show of power will too start in the afternoon.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan will address the public rally that would also be joined by his party workers and supporters from across the province and FATA.

The PML-N leadership would certainly criticise the PTI’s performance. Its slogan for today’s public meeting is ‘no sit-ins, we want work only’.

The Nawaz League, a strong political force in Hazara region of the province, has also a sizable presence at NA-4 constituency in Peshawar, where it is going to hold its public gathering.

The Nawaz League leadership would shed light on those steps that the federal government has so far taken for the progress and development of the people of the country particularly the CPEC and energy projects and elimination of terrorism to a great extent.

Moreover, it would denounce PTI for not fulfilling the promises it had made especially bringing change in the fortunes of the people of the province, which according to the former is invisible despite the lapse of more than three years of PTI government in the province.

In today’s public meeting, PML-N will ask people of the province not to believe in sit-ins anymore, because it would make no change at all.

While the PTI Chairman Imran Khan is launching ‘Tehreek-e-Ehtesab’ mainly demanding for probing Panama Papers Leaks.
