The India Times in its recent issue published an article titled, “Gang of Four Pakistani Generals”, which alleges that four Generals were responsible for planning the Kargil misadventure, while the majority of Corps commanders and principal staff officers were kept in the dark; they wanted to avenge Siachen and use Kargil as a bargaining chip. Even the Nawaz Sharif government had no clue about Kargil.

Indian newspapers and electronic media repeat such claims from time to time. The frequency of such articles is meaningful and seems to be part of plot aimed at creating mistrust between the armed forces of Pakistan and the civilian government or population. This also aims to dent the trust that has been developed between China and Pakistan over the years. Pakistani media has to be vigilant of not falling prey to Indian propaganda.
