Islamabad - The Enforcement Directorate in collaboration with the Building Control Section of the Capital Development Authority on Monday carried out an anti-encroachment operation in the area of sector E-11.

The operation was part of the ongoing drive against illegal constructions and encroachments in the city. As the squads of anti-encroachment directorate reached the spot, the owner and the employees of a super store and marquee started protesting against the officials. Pir Hassam ud Din, owner of the store and other employees also took under control the machinery of the enforcement directorate. However, the police immediately reached the spot and retrieved the machinery and other equipment from the protesters. The anti-encroachment squads demolished several illegal constructions and retrieved the state land.  They also stopped work on the construction of a marquee. The owner of the store however, sought 24-hour time to voluntarily remove the encroachments. The operation would continue today (Tuesday).

Meanwhile, Mayor Islamabad, Sheikh Anser Aziz chaired a meeting of Sanitation Wing of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI). The meeting was attended by Chief Officer MCI, Najaf Iqbal Syed, Director General Civic Management Khalil Ahmed Soomro, Director Sanitation Sardar Khan Zimri and other officers of MCI.


The meeting discussed different proposals to improve sanitation system all over the city, particularly in the rural areas.

The Mayor directed Director Sanitation to start collection of household garbage from the settlements along the Islamabad Expressway including Lehtrar Road, Ali Pur Farash, Khanna, Sohan and Koral. He asked chairmen of these union councils to designate a proper garbage collecting point in their respective union councils so that staff of the Sanitation Directorate could lift and dispose of garbage properly.

Mayor of Islamabad Sheikh Anser Aziz directed to depute more sanitary workers and machinery in Blue Area to improve sanitation services there.

The Mayor directed Director Sanitation to make special cleanliness arrangements in rural and urban areas of the city on the eve of Independence day. He directed to constitute teams which will work round the clock to keep city clean on August 14. He directed to ensure that garbage containers and trolleys be emptied promptly on daily basis. He further directed to remove building scrap without any delay so that flow of water is not disturbed.
