Islamabad reports highest number of Covid-19 cases since April 28

ISLAMABAD - The capital on Friday morning reported 452 new Coronavirus cases — the highest number of cases since April 28 with 509 cases.
The city also reported two Coronavirus-related deaths over the past 24 hours. The total number of infections in the city has now increased to 89,569 while the death toll from the disease now stands at 809. Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported 308 cases and three deaths. The total number of cases has increased to 26,086 while the death toll is 639. Gilgit-Baltistan reported 78 cases and two deaths, taking the caseload to 8,551 and the death toll to 150.
During the past 24 hours, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa reported 541 Coronavirus cases and 12 deaths. The province’s infection tally now stands at 147,026 and the death toll has climbed to 4,507. Meanwhile, Balochistan recorded 87 new infections and one more death. The total number of Covid-19 cases in the province has increased to 30,967 while the death toll is 330. Punjab reported 964 Coronavirus cases and 19 deaths during the last 24 hours. The province’s infection tally now stands at 361,458 and the death toll has climbed to 11,141. Furthermore, Pakistan has reported 2,095 Covid-19 recoveries over the past 24 hours, according to the government’s portal for tracking the spread of the disease. So far, the country has recorded a total of 954,711 recoveries and the recovery rate is 90.2 percent.
Furthermore, Federal Minister for Planning and chief of the NCOC, Asad Umar, has said that vaccination is open to all above 18 years of age in the country. However, he said, students aged 16-18 years, who need to go abroad for study to universities requiring mandatory vaccination will be administered Moderna vaccine. He made it clear that Moderna vaccine will be administered on checking valid visa/ university documents.
