Peshawar - Life totally changed for a police officer, Alamzeb Khan, when he lost his right hand in a suicide attack in Nowshera district.
DSP Alamzeb Khan, along with other cops, managed to arrest two suicide bombers during an operation in Akora Khattak area of Nowshera in 2012 when he was an SHO. However, a third bomber detonated explosives around his body, and Alamzeb lost his one hand in the explosion as a result.
Speaking to The Nation, DSP Alamzeb Khan – who now serves in the regular police force in Peshawar – stated that though he lost his one hand, he is proud of having rendered this sacrifice for the nation.
“In the beginning, I used to feel awkward while using only one hand in daily chores, however, I got used to it later on. Police job is risky but one feels proud to protect the life and property of people,” Alamzeb said.
