Sindh Assembly condemns Indian atrocities in IIOJK

| House also condemns attack on temple in Rahim Yar Khan | Speaker decides to forward resolution to Punjab govt

KARACHI - Sindh Assembly on Friday unanimously passed two clubbed resolutions, expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir on completion of two years of revocation of the valley’s special status by Indian government.
Two identical resolutions—one moved by Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ghanwer Ali Khan Isran and the other jointly tabled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamenatry Leader Bilal Ahmed and Muhammad Hussain Khan of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P)—were clubbed by Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.
The movers vehemently criticised the Indian government for carrying out atrocities in occupied part of the valley and termed it an attempt to convert Kashmiris majority into minority on their own land through demographic changes.
“This House reiterates its unanimous resolve to establish, uphold and preserve the right of the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir to self-determination and independence on the day marking the illegal, unconstitutional and forced annexation of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir through the use of blatant force and impunity,” the PPP lawmaker’s resolution read.
It added that the Assembly expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir who were subjected to the brutal show of violence, illegal detentions, media blackouts and worst form of humanitarian crises.
“This House draws attention to the implementation of the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions which offer the people of Kashmir an option to decide their fate through a free and fair plebiscite. The Assembly reaffirms our unanimous disregard for the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A of the Indian constitution that offers special status to the territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The House recognises the sacrifices of brave and valiant sons and daughters of Kashmir who have laid their lives for the independence, dignity and glory of Kashmir. The Assembly reaffirms that Jammu and Kashmir remains as unfinished agenda of partition that continues to be on UN agenda since 1948,” the resolution read.
It also rejected the grant of citizenships to the people belonging to other state or provinces which was a blatant violation of UN Security Council, resolutions and an attempt to bring about demographic changes into the occupied territory of Kashmir.
“This House demands the immediate withdrawal of occupying forces from the occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the establishment of civil order within the occupied territory. The Assembly seeks attention of the international community towards the blatant violations of human rights, abductions and rape cases to which the scores of women and children are being subjected. The House expresses on part of the people of Sindh over complete resolve for the resolution of Kashmir dispute and the implementation of the UN resolutions as per the aspirations of people of Kashmir,” the resolution read.
In the resolution, the federal government was demanded to expedite their efforts at national, regional and global forums to make the miseries of innocent Kashmiris felt and the speedy resolution of Kashmir issue ensured.
Another resolution jointly moved by PTI and MQM-P read, “The House unanimously condemns India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019 and subsequent measures particularly pertaining to domicile rules and the land ownership laws are aimed at changing the demographic structure of IIOJK and converting the Kashmiris into a minority in their own land. These measures are blatant violations of international law, including the UN Charter, the United Nations Security Council resolutions, and the 4th Geneva Convention”.
It added that Pakistani nation expressed solidarity with people of Kashmir on Youm-e-Istehsal, 5th August and supported the resolve of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters.
“The Prime Minister called upon the international community, including the United Nations, human rights organisations and global media to hold India accountable for its crimes against the Kashmiri people. Pakistan will continue to extend all possible assistance to Kashmiris till the realisation of their inalienable right to self-determination,” the resolution read.
 Temples’ ransacking condemned
Separately, the Assembly demanded Punjab government to arrest the culprits involved in ransacking a temple in Rahim Yar Khan and take them to the task. A joint resolution to condemn the incident was tabled by Nand Kumar of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Mangla Sharma of MQM-P, Sanjay Gangwani of PTI and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla.
“This House strongly condemns the brutal attack on temple in Bhong Sharif, district Rahim Yar Khan. The said attack is a conspiracy to damage the inter-faith religious harmony in the country. This House demands to arrest the culprits involved therein the incident,” the resolution read.
After the unanimous passage of the resolution, the Speaker also ruled that the resolution should be forwarded to Punjab government. “Mosques, temples and other religious places are not a joke and this is a very serious issue,” Speaker Durrani said.
