Bank dacoity bid foiled, two robbers killed

KARACHI - A dacoity bid in a bank was foiled here on Saturday, while two robbers were killed and one sustained injuries. One policeman was also injured in the incident. According to details, three dacoits barged into the Micro Finance Bank in Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police precincts, but the only policeman deployed at the bank resisted and failed the dacoity bid, said the police officials. According to New Karachi Town SP, Dr Mohammad Farooq Ahmed, around three armed dacoits entered into the bank located at Sector 5B-3, North Karachi, in Khawaja Ajmair Nagri area. They opened indiscriminate firing on the policeman and a security guard deployed at the main entrance of the bank. They also tried to snatch weapon from Head Constable Bashir Ahmed Channa of the said police station. On his resistance, the dacoits opened fire on him resultantly he received at least four bullets. Despite of his injuries, Channa continued resisting the robbers. Upon which the two robbers were killed while another injured, the SP Ahmed added. Following the incident, heavy contingent of the law enforcers have rushed to the scene and arrested the injured alleged dacoit. The police have also recovered three TT pistols from their possessions. The deceased were identified as Ayaz, 25, s/o Allah Rakha and Iqbal, 25, s/o Sawnd, while Shakeel, 30, s/o Allah Raka was injured. The dead bodies and both the injured were taken to the hospital in very critical condition. Ahmed said that two out of three dacoits, Ayaz and Shakeel, were brothers and were the residents of Lasi Goth, while Iqbal was the resident of New Karachi area. The case has been registered.
