KARACHI (APP) - Penalty corner striker Imran Bhutta blasted a brace to play key role as Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) clinched the 5th National Junior Cup Hockey Championship when they came from behind to beat NBP 4-2 in the final at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium on Friday evening under floodlights. Talented Bhutta struck once in each of the match as NBP surprised the favorites in the final. Adeel Hussain and Rana Zubair netted the other two goals for HBL. Muhammad Atiq and Muhammad Imran scored one goal apiece for NBP. Led by international Haseem Khan, HBL peaked at the right time which helped them to outplay fancied NBP in the final. NBP got off to a confident start when Atiq converted a penalty stroke in the 14th minute. However Imran Bhutta pulled one back on penalty corner to level the terms six minute later. NBP was jolted in 25th minute when right winger Adeel Hussain put his team in front through a field effort on a combined move. HBL led 2-1 at the interval. Before NBP could recover from the shock, after the resumption, HBL when deep defender Rana Zubair made 3-1 sounded the board with penalty corner. NBP enjoyed slight upper hand in the second session but they missed few sitters from the close range. Muhammad Imran reduced the margin in 48th minute to insert some energy in NBP team. But Umer Bhutta again showed his class when he scored with penalty corner to make it 4-2. NBP tried hard to stage comeback but HBL defenders stood firm thwart any attempt from the opponent. Federal Sports Minister Pir Aftab Shah Jilani, President and Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Qasim Zia and Asif Bajwa also witnessed the final. Aftab Shah Jilani presented the winners trophy to HBL Captain Adeel Hussain with cash prize of Rs.30,000. Haseem Khan collected runners-up trophy and cash prize of Rs.20,000. Haseem Khan was named player of the tournament and got Rs.10,000. Haseem Khan was awarded Rs,5000 as emerged as the highest scorer with 13 goals to his credit Speaking on the occasion, Federal Sports Minister announced installation of an astroturf in Mirpurkhas and development a sports complex.
