Rawalpindi-Following the directions of Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) has launched anti-encroachment operation on Tuesday and removed temporary and permanent encroachments from several areas of the city.
During the operation, seven truckloads goods of encroachers were confiscated and shifted to store of RTMA.
The officials said the seized goods would not be returned to encroachers.
According to details, RTMA anti-encroachment cell, led by Tehsil Officer (Regulation) Pir Shehzad Gohar, along with local police carried the operation in Bara, Bazaar Talwaran, Namak Mandi, Raja Bazaar, Sadiqabad, Kuri Road and Transformer Chowk and removed all the permanent and temporary encroachments while seven truckloads goods of the encroachers have been confiscated. The citizens and commuters hailed the services of the RTMA anti-encroachment cell.
Talking to The Nation, TO (R) Pir Shehzad Gohar said the encroachments have been removed from city areas while the goods of encroachers have been confiscated and would not be returned at any cost. He said the operation would also help in streamlining the traffic flow as well as the pedestrian movement in the markets and bazaars.
He said the operation is being conducted on daily basis and without any indiscrimination in all the areas aimed at to provide relief to the citizens.
He said the encroachers have adopted a novel way to dodge the anti-encroachment cell by deputing motorcyclists on every nook and corner of city who updated the encroachers on mobile phone about the movement of the officials of RTMA. He said the vendors who would be found selling their products on footpaths and different roads would be fined.
