KARACHI - A builder’s office in Gulbahar was attacked with a hand grenade on Tuesday, when the builder reportedly declined to pay extortion to the gangsters.
According to details, unknown motorcyclists threw a hand grenade at a builder’s office housed in an under-construction building and managed to flee. The grenade exploded, but the employees and the builder himself remained unhurt. On being informed, heavy contingents of law enforcers rushed to the spot while a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) experts also reached the scene to examine nature of the blast.
Police said that non-payment of extortion money led to the attack. “The attackers had demanded Rs one million from the builder,” police said, and blamed Lyari gangsters for the attack.
However, a police official clarified that investigation was still continuing.
One dead in clash between two
groups of drug traffickers
Meanwhile, two groups of drug traffickers had a brawl in Rexer Line of Pak Colony, that left one of them dead, and his brother wounded in an exchange of fire. Police said that Nazeer Siddique and his brother Naseem Sadiq sustained bullet injuries and were shifted to the Civil Hospital where Nazeer succumbed to his injures.
Police registered the case against the operatives of both the gangs. In another incident, a passerby sustained bullet wounds at Lyari Expressway within the remits of Sohrab Goth police station.
Police shifted the man to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police later shifted the body to a morgue for identification.
