Karachi - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday reviewed development package for the city at New Sindh Secretariat, with especial focus on a road from the airport to Ghaggar Patak.
Addressing a meeting at the Sindh Secretariat, the chief minister said that FWO was constructing Karachi-Thatta dual carriageway, but the roads from Airport to Quaidabad (of KMC), Quaidabad to steel mills and then steel mills to Ghaggar Patak also needed to be rebuilt.
The chief minister was informed that the roads had utility lines on their both sides; therefore along with construction of these roads, water and gutter pipes also needed to be replaced.
The chief minister directed Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Mohammad Waseem to approve the scheme in three phases so that its tenders could be issued.
He suggested that initially portion of the road from airport to Quaidabad should be built under the development package while the two other portions be awarded to a well reputed contracting firm.
Meanwhile, Murad has directed police to ensure proper security during the holy month of Rabiul Awal.
Presiding over a meeting here at the CM House on Tuesday, the chief minister directed Sindh Police IG to provide necessary security to the processions and programmes to be held in connection with the holy month in Karachi and other cities of the province.
He also directed Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon to issue necessary instructions to local bodies to make special arrangements for cleanliness, particularly on route of the procession.
He also directed Karachi water board to keep the sewerage system in the city in order.
