PTI fails to furnish evidence, claim PML-N leaders

| Advise Imran to withdraw petition to avoid humiliation

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leaders on Tuesday claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and his legal team failed to furnish any evidence and documents in the court against the Sharif family in the Panama Papers case.

Addressing a news conference, State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Imran Khan’s legal team was finding some contradiction in the prime minister’s speeches but it has no evidence against Nawaz Sharif. She said that the prime minister was neither involved in tax evasion nor his name was mentioned in Panama Papers.

She said the lawyers representing the Sharif family have requested the court to hear the case on a daily basis so that the issue could be resolved soon and “the ruling party was ready to accept the court verdict in Panama Leaks case”.

Aurangzeb said that in the next general elections, the PTI leadership will have to face Prime Minister Sharif who put the country on the path of development.

She said the government was totally focusing on the development of the country. “The government will continue its development policies in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa where the PTI government has failed to deliver,” she said.

Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman said that “we are trying to present before the court all evidence as soon as possible. She said that the prime minister’s children have filed a petition seeking the hearing in the case on a daily basis.

She said that Maryam Nawaz is no more dependent on her father after she wed.

The minister said that the PTI could not produce evidence during the three days of hearing. She urged the PTI leader not to make a mountain out of a molehill.

The minister said that Imran Khan should once again change his lawyer “who failed to produce any evidence in the court today”. She advised the PTI chief to reconsider the Panama Papers case which was based on baseless allegations and lies and withdraw the petition.

The minister said that the PML-N has provided concrete proofs and documents in the court which reflected a complete truth.

MNA Talal Chaudhry said that “Khan and his cronies have been frustrated in every attempt to malign the prime minister and his mandate”.

He said that the prime minister was fulfilling all his political promises by completing development projects in the country including power and infrastructure projects.

Chaudhry said that the PTI attempted to make the PML-N’s mandate controversial but “the Supreme Court gave a clean chit to Nawaz Sharif and now in this case, by changing lawyers, false statements cannot be proved true”.

Earlier, outside the Supreme Court Aurangzeb said that every time the PTI comes before the court with baseless allegations without any solid proof. She said that the PTI chief was doing politics for power as he himself had admitted that he will pursue his development policies after coming to power.
