Motorway Police organise seminar on road safety

KARACHI - More than 10,000 drivers of miscellaneous companies trained this year which also got the Defensive Driving Certificates from motorway police.

It was informed by DSP Farhan Ahmad of Motorway Police Karachi while presenting an interactive presentation consists of accident videos while mentioning the mistakes lead to such accidents.

A road safety seminar held at DHA City Karachi on M-9 to make locals aware regarding traffic rules of motorway. The audience were sensitized that motorway police has established Road Safety Training Institutes (RSTI), Driving License Authority (DLA) and also installed Driving Simulators consists of 4D technology for the training of drivers. It was briefed in the session that more than 10,000 drivers of miscellaneous companies trained this year which also got the Defensive Driving Certificates from motorway police.

While addressing, Faisal Edhi praises the role of motorway police as no other law enforcing agency has its RSTIs for general public. He added that untrained drivers are the major cause of accidents not only on Highways and Motorways but also in cities. Driving training is a neglected topic non-professional drivers’ training schools in the city are producing breed of untrained drivers.

Karamullah Somroo, SSP Motorway Police South-III said that besides strict enforcement motorway police is emphasizing on drivers training in order to minimize the risk of road traffic accidents. Motorway police is meeting with all the stakeholders to jointly raise the efforts for safer roads, he added.
