Rawalpindi - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting operations in different parts of the country has recovered huge quantity of narcotics and arrested 17 smugglers.

Besides seizing 4 vehicles being used in transporting the narcotics, the ANF seized 3-kg ice, 32.90-kg heroin and 156.88-kg hashish during 13 countrywide operations conducted at Rawalpindi, Haripur, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Turbat, and Gilgit, informed ANF spokesman here on Friday.

During the operations, two proclaimed offenders were also arrested. Most of the recovered drugs were being smuggled for local consumption. The value of recovered drugs is approximately Rs 381.5 million in international market, he added.

According to him, ANF Rawalpindi carried out a raid near Chakwal Morr GT Road Sohawa and recovered 30-kg heroin which was tactfully concealed in the secret cavities of 22 wheel trawler.

ANF Rawalpindi also arrested 2 proclaimed offenders namely Muhammad Raheem and Asghar, both resident of Fauji Colony.

Both the accused who were involved in FIR number 134/14 registered at ANF police station, he said. Cases have been registered against all the detainees with ANF police stations and further investigations are under process, he informed.
