Hike in airlines’ fare challenged in LHC

LAHORE - A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court challenging the hike in fares by private airlines after PIA employees’ strike in the country.
Imran Ghumman, a lawyer, filed the petition and pointed out that the airlines have increased their fares up to 300 per cent to take advantage of the crisis situation. He says the operations of the national flag carrier are suspended due to which the private airlines are exploiting the passengers.
The lawyer alleges that private airlines have been fanning the protests of the PIA’s employees to fulfil their ulterior motives. “Passengers are forced to travel on ridiculously exorbitant fares of the private airlines,” said Mr Ghumman, praying to the court to order Civil Aviation Authority to take action against all private airlines and order the authorities concerned to control them.
